Différences doctrinales entre l'islam et le christianisme
The doctrinal differences between Islam and Christianity are very significant, and it is incorrect to say that we differ only in minor matters. Some of these differences include:
- Deity: In Islam, the deity is Allah, while in Christianity, it is Jesus, the son of Mary.
- Seal of the Prophets: In Islam, it is Muhammad, while in Christianity, it is Jesus. Peace and blessings be upon them both.
- Prophets and Messengers: In Islam, we believe in all the prophets and messengers, that they are infallible from major sins and mistakes in conveying the revelation, and that they are the best of all humans and lesser than the angels.
In Christianity, many prophets are not believed in, they are thought to commit major sins and are not infallible, and saints, patriarchs, bishops, and priests are better than them. - Angels: In Islam, angels are pure, obey Allah, and do not err; they are greater than all creatures. In Christianity, angels are attributed with disobedience, sin, and foolishness, and it is believed that a Christian can be like or better than an angel.
- Scriptures: In Islam, we believe that Allah revealed scriptures to His prophets, who wrote them exactly as revealed. Each nation was tasked with preserving its scripture, but they distorted and lost them. The final scripture, which abrogates previous ones, is the Quran, which Allah has promised to protect.
The previous scriptures are the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel. We believe in them in general, but the Quran suffices for us. Jews differ among themselves regarding their scriptures and do not believe in subsequent revelations, and the same goes for Christians. - Satan: In Islam, he and his tribe are from the jinn, created from fire. In Judaism and Christianity, he is an angel who was their leader and disobeyed Allah along with a group of angels. He has power in both the world and heaven.
- Heaven and Hell: In Islam, we believe that they existed before the creation of humans. In Judaism and Christianity, heaven does not exist, and hell is not for them but for those who oppose them.
- Predestination: In Islam, we believe in it. In Judaism and Christianity, they do not believe in it despite its presence in their current scriptures.
- Pleasure and Punishment in the Grave: In Islam, we believe in them. In Judaism and Christianity, they do not believe in them despite their presence in their current scriptures.
- Clericalism and the Saints’ Authority over People in this Life and the Hereafter: These do not exist in Islam, while they are fundamental in Jewish and Christian worship without any evidence from their scriptures for this authority.
Therefore, it is incorrect to say that we differ with them only in minor matters, as these are fundamental aspects of faith, and all of them constitute disbelief in Allah.
