But can the spark of true faith (Iman/إيمان) stay hidden inside a person without turning into action, work, and building?

In Islam, faith is not about isolation or just emotions and tears. It is a positive force that brings life to everything. It is very much like a “Great Tree”: it has firm roots deep in the soul, but its branches reach out to cover every detail of human life.

Substance vs. Appearance: When the Spirit gets Lost

The world has lost much because of the idea that faith is only a private relationship between a person and God, or just a set of outward appearances. Some people care only about the “image”—focusing on clothing and looks—while forgetting the core of character (Akhlaq/أخلاق), which is the heart of the message.

A person who holds onto forms and rituals while losing honesty, mercy (ラーマ/رحمة), justice, and excellence in work (Itqan/إتقان) has missed the true essence of Islam. Faith that does not change our reality is just a claim. If faith does not move a person to build their society, it does not reflect its true nature.

Faith as an Engine for Virtuous Societies

Strong and civilized societies are not built on empty slogans. They are built by planting values that go beyond selfish interests. Islam seeks to build a society based on faith, translating that faith into a network of social virtues, including:

A Strong Social Fabric: Defined by love, brotherhood (Ukhuwwah/أخوة), and tolerance.

Strict Work Ethics: Based on integrity, productivity, and not exploiting others.

Public Responsibility: Including cleanliness, healthcare, and helping the weak.

This is not a “perfect dream” or fiction. It was a reality during the bright periods of Islamic history when the nation was at its peak of civilization. Back then, faith moved from being an idea in the heart to a reality walking on the ground.

Why do we need the “Tree of Faith” in the 21st Century?

Today, humanity lives in a state of extreme division. While some societies suffer from poverty, others have material power but lack meaning, leading to the breakdown of families and human isolation.

In this confusion, we need “Moderation” (Wasatiyyah/وسطية) to restore balance. Faith is the starting point; when it is stable inside, a person’s actions become organized and effective. The crises we see today are the result of abandoning “Complete Faith”—the kind that includes caring for humans, animals, the environment, and society.

Conclusion: An Invitation to Explore the Branches

When we talk about the “Branches of Faith” (Shu’ab al-Iman/شُعب الإيمان), we are not just giving lessons in manners. We are opening a window to a worldview that sees “Man” as a trustee (Khalifah/خليفة) on this planet. It is a sincere invitation to reflect on a religion that does not only fix your relationship with God but also holds you accountable for a smile to a stranger, planting a tree, or being just between people.

We invite you to join this open dialogue to explore how the “Branches of Faith” can be a bridge between hearts and a moral code for a more merciful and humane world.

Introduction: Is Faith an Idea or a Living Reality?
