In the Sharia of God, financial behavior is inseparable from internal belief. The scale a merchant holds in their hand is the same scale upon which their deeds will be weighed on the Resurrection Day. In the “Tree of Faith,” the branch of “Avoiding Shortchanging”<\/strong> (Adam al-Tatfif<\/em>\/\u0639\u062f\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0637\u0641\u064a\u0641) represents the “Roots that Absorb the Halal.”<\/strong> It ensures that a believer\u2019s growth and wealth are built on truth and justice. Islam regards depriving people of their due as a great injustice, promising the “Mutafeffeen” (the shortchangers) with “Wail”<\/strong>\u2014a valley in Hell or a certain destruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoiding shortchanging in Islam is “Absolute Justice.”<\/strong> A believer refuses to add a single grain of forbidden gain to their bag, seeing the fulfillment of measure and weight as gratitude to God for the blessing of provision and a protection for society against greed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Philosophy of the Scale: Establishing Truth on Earth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Holy Quran linked the creation of the heavens and the earth to the Balance (the Scale), stating: {And the heaven He raised and at the same time He set up the Balance, so that you may not transgress in the balance}<\/em>. This principle rests on firm spiritual pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Full Fulfillment:<\/strong> When selling, a believer fulfills the measure and weight with justice; when buying, they do not demand more than their right. They observe God, the “Lord of the Scales,” before observing the eye of the buyer or the authority of the law.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

The Blessing of the Halal:<\/strong> The certainty that a small amount of “Halal” (lawful) wealth fully accounted for is better than a mountain of “Haram” (forbidden) wealth gained through cheating. Shortchanging erases blessings and leads to misery, while honesty opens the doors of abundant provision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Integrity in Effort and Labor:<\/strong> Shortchanging is not limited to scales of wheat and oil; it extends to the “Shortchanging of Effort.”<\/strong> A worker who neglects their duty or quality is a shortchanger, and an employer who withholds a worker’s fair wage is a shortchanger as well.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Manifestations of Integrity: The Dignity of Honesty<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    This branch manifests in a believer\u2019s interactions, making them a role model for integrity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Fulfilling Measure and Weight:<\/strong> Complying with God\u2019s command: {Give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance}<\/em>. A slight increase in favor of the buyer is the trait of the generous who fear falling short.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Sincerity and Disclosure:<\/strong> Not hiding defects in goods or deceiving others regarding quality. A believer loves for their brother what they love for themselves, valuing people’s trust and religious safety over fleeting, false profit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Fulfilling Contracts and Promises:<\/strong> Delivering rights on time without procrastination. Delaying the fulfillment of a right is a form of injustice and shortchanging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Spiritual and Social Impact: A Society of Trust and Growth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      When financial integrity prevails, magnificent gains are achieved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Sovereignty of Mutual Trust:<\/strong> The market becomes a place of mercy and beneficial exchange rather than deception, facilitating people’s livelihoods and strengthening bonds of affection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Invoking Divine Blessings:<\/strong> A society that weighs with equity is blessed by God in its food and fruits. The heavens open their blessings for those who establish justice on earth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Purification of Wealth and Soul:<\/strong> Honesty in the scale cleanses the soul from the filth of greed, making wealth “Halal” and “Tayyib” (pure), leading to answered prayers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Spiritual Accountability: “Weigh Before You Are Weighed”<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        This branch calls for constant vigilance in our dealings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Sensing the Standing Before God:<\/strong> Remembering the Verse: {Do such people not think that they will be raised up, on a Great Day?}<\/em> This warning is the true overseer of the merchant’s hand and the craftsman’s conscience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Tolerance in Buying and Selling:<\/strong> “May Allah have mercy on a man who is easy-going when he sells, when he buys, and when he demands his due.”<\/em> Tolerance is the spirit of Islamic justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Conclusion: A Scale That Does Not Wrong an Atom’s Weight<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          The branch of avoiding shortchanging is the safety valve for both economy and morals. It tells us that religiosity is incomplete without balancing the scale and upholding the truth. Whoever establishes their scale in this world with justice, God will make their scales heavy with grace on the Day of Resurrection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
