Supplication brings serenity

The Loneliness of the Unspoken Burden We all carry things we feel we can’t explain to anyone else—fears about the future, regrets from the past, or a quiet sadness that doesn’t seem to have a name. Trying to manage these emotions alone is exhausting. We often look for “escapes” like entertainment or distractions, but these are only temporary. The heart doesn’t need an escape; it needs to be heard by someone who truly understands.

The Concept of Dua The Islamic act of calling upon God is Dua. According to the Glossary of Islamic Terms, Dua is “supplication” or “invocation.” It is the essence of ‘Ibadah (worship). Unlike formal prayer, Dua has no set time or language; it is a raw, honest conversation with as-Sami’ (The All-Hearing). When you make Dua, you are acknowledging your Faqr (neediness) and turning toward the only Source that can actually change your reality.

The Shift from Anxiety to Trust The act of asking is itself a form of healing. When you put your worries into words and hand them over to al-Mujib (The Responder), something happens to your internal state. You move from Qalaq (anxiety) to Tawakkul (trust). You realize that you don’t have to “fix” everything yourself. Even before the situation changes, the fact that you have spoken to the Lord of the worlds brings a sense of Inshirah (expansion of the chest). You are no longer carrying the weight alone.

The Serenity of the Heard Soul Practicing regular Dua brings a profound sense of Sakina (tranquillity). It provides a mental and emotional “reset.” You find Yaqin (certainty) in the promise that the Creator is “nearer to you than your jugular vein.” This closeness creates a shield of peace around your heart. You become Thabit (steadfast) because you know that no matter what happens, you have a direct “line” to the One who holds the heavens and the earth.
